JM Energy Corporation started as a member of the JSR group in August 2007, and developed the world’s first lithium ion capacitor at the end of 2008, establishing its manufacturing base in Hokuto City in Yamanashi Prefecture, an environment creating city. Capitalizing on materials and precision processing technologies owned by the JSR group, JM Energy Corporation will develop, manufacture, and market lithium ion capacitors, a new type of electricity storage devices.
A lithium ion capacitor is a kind of capacitor with a large capacity, being provided not only with a high power density and a favorable cycle characteristic of an electric double layer capacitor but also with features of high energy density and a high voltage, offering the possibility of a further increase in its capacity and of compact design.
In an era demanding energy conservation and environmental measures on a global basis, lithium ion capacitors contribute to dramatic improvements in functions such as rapid charge and discharge, energy regeneration and load leveling in the fields of new renewable energy like wind power generation and photovoltaic power generation, various types of industrial equipment such as instantaneous voltage drop compensation units and construction machinery as well as in the area of mobile vehicles like unmanned transfer machines and automobiles, offering diversified solutions to efforts in efficient use of energy.
